Like other reindeer, caribou are larger than true deer. These animals have very broad hoofs to help support them when in deep snow and soft tundra. The antlers on Caribou are very broad much bigger then true deer, males antlers grow much larger then female caribou. There are two main types of Caribou Barren Ground and The Woodland Caribou. When hunting Caribou, having a good caribou hunting guide and outfitter is a must, as they scout the locations of these large herds. By knowing the Caribou location this gives caribou hunters a better chance at harvesting one of these big game animals.
