Nebraska Pheasant Hunting Guides and Outfitters

Pheasant Hunts

Nebraska Pheasant Hunting

Nebraska pheasant hunting, quail hunting, and chuckar hunting are available from September 1 through March 31, on the controlled shooting areas. This includes a five-pheasant bag limit and both rooster pheasants and hen pheasants may be included in the take. Nebraska law also says that you may bag two quail or chuckar in place of one pheasant, for a total quail-and-chuckar bag limit of ten. Most Nebraska properties can be hunted within the official Nebraska state season and with a state license.

At many Nebraska pheasant-hunting excursions, your hunting experience doesn't always end with a full bag limit. Many other Nebraska guides and outfitters will all you to bag some extra trophies; any additional pheasants or chuckar or quail taken are charged by the bird, with costs varying by guide and outfitter.

With the abundance of moisture in 2011, Nebraska’s pheasant habitat is great once again. Additionally, Nebraska’s pheasant and quail populations are some of the best in the last 20 years. Nebraska Pheasant Hunting, Quail Hunting, and Dove Hunting Seasons vary, but they are confirmed by Nebraska Game & Parks. The typical Nebraska Season for pheasant and quail runs from Oct. 29 until Jan. 31. Dove season runs from Sept. 1 through Oct. 30 Dove hunting has been excellent the last several years.

Traditional Nebraska pheasant hunting is the way it should be, with stocked birds and not planted birds, to help supplement nature. A pheasant hunter will have to be willing to work Nebraska hard, and to walk through some heavy Nebraska cover. Nebraska’s five-pheasant daily limit is possible to achieve. This achievement has been reached many times.  Even when this goal is not met, most Nebraska pheasant hunters have stated that they had the opportunity to reach this goal and more.

Nebraska’s non-resident annual small game permit is $81. This permit is required to hunt on non-C.S.A. property. Nebraska officials recommend during the season – and if you are enjoying other areas – to purchase a state permit. Also available is a two-day permit only valid the Wednesday before Thanksgiving until December 31. The price is $36.00.
The non-resident youth small game hunt permit is $14.00 (Required for hunters 15 years old or younger). This permit allows hunting access to both C.S.A. and non-C.S.A. areas. The resident annual small game hunt permit is $14 (required for all hunters 16 years of age or older)
Additionally, a Habitat Stamp will cost you $20.00; it is required for all hunters except for resident hunters 15 years of age or younger. Any pheasant hunters ages 12 through 15 must have a hunter education card on their person. More information and state permits are available on the Nebraska Game and Parks website at http://www.outdoornebraska.org
