Wyoming Mule Deer Hunting Guides and Outfitters

Mule Deer Hunts

Wyoming Mule Deer: The Hunt Is On

Wyoming mule deer hunting has been downright excellent the last several years. It is getting harder and harder to find good mule deer hunting with big bucks, but many Wyoming ranchers, guides, and outfitters have plenty of big bucks. There are many large mule deer herds that roam freely over thousands of acres of Wyoming, both on public and private land.

Wyoming guided deer hunts are designed to give the hunter the best opportunity to harvest a trophy, and mule deer and antelope hunting are the heart of the Wyoming hunting seasons. The wild populations are dense, and outside hunting pressure is kept to a minimum to allow Wyoming hunters the best there is when it comes to fair chase mule deer hunting!

Guided hunts in Wyoming are typically spot and stalk, along with some still hunting. Vast acreages allow plenty of visibility so hunters can glass for miles and spot the mule deer where they are bedding down. Mule deer hunters in Wyoming must put in for a license, but drawing success has been 100% for the last 10 years. The average size of a Wyoming mule deer is a mature 4x4, with a 22-24 inch spread. Sometimes, a few lucky Wyoming sportsmen will bag a few 25-27 inchers, and once in a while, a happy hunter will acquire a 30" mule deer.

Private leases provide you with the best opportunity to harvest a trophy mule deer without the pressure from other hunters in Wyoming. This year, success was 95% on rifle hunts and close to 100% on archery hunts, with more than 100% opportunity. You can expect to harvest mule deer trophies ranging from 22”-30” on Wyoming hunts.

Rifles tend to make for the best mule deer hunt in Wyoming. Hunts begin Oct. 15 for riflemen. Preference Points are helpful on a Wyoming hunt. Many private ranches provide beautiful scenery, scrumptious meals, excellent mule deer trophies and comfortable, charming facilities.

Without a doubt, Wyoming has some of the most game-rich country in the west. Horses are used on some mule deer hunts, and most all elk hunts. Hunter's game will be taken into town for processing, and you can take your meat with you or ship it home. Hunters need to bring only personal gear, rifle, bow, binoculars, camera and sleeping bag.
