Dove hunting Adventures in Argentina

I provided information on Duck and Perdiz hunting in the last newsletter, so this time I will write about the “year round volume” dove shooting opportunity in Cordoba, Argentina with JJ Caceria Outfitters from the Dove Hunting lodge “La Camila”.  The Dove hunting in Cordoba is available all year round, with no limit on the number of doves you can shoot, so you can come and shoot doves anytime of the year.  If you live on the east coast of the US, then you will probably fly from your home location to Miami, FL and then to either Lima, Peru or Santiago, Chile and then into Cordoba International Airport.  Some people may select the option of flying into Buenos Aires first if they are planning some sightseeing as well as hunting and then on to Cordoba.  The Outfitter likes for hunters to arrive in the morning into Cordoba in order to get in an afternoon’s hunt.  You will be met at the airport and assisted thru customs.  After clearing customs, you will be driven about an hour east of Cordoba City to the hunting lodge and provided lunch and asked to change into your hunting clothes to start your dove shooting adventure.  The first day is an afternoon hunt, where you will see more birds in one afternoon than you have seen in your entire life.  After the dove hunt, you will be returned to the lodge to relax and socialize with your friends and other hunters sharing the lodge with you.  Dinner is usually served around 8 p.m.  Hunting days 2 - You will be awaken around 6:30 A.M. and have an American style breakfast in the dining area.  After breakfast you will leave for the morning hunting area.   After the morning hunt you will be taken to an area near where you are hunting for a BBQ lunch in the field.  When lunch is complete you will have a short period to rest prior to returning to the fields for the afternoon shoot.   Day 3 is a repeat of day 2.  Then  on your last day, the fourth day,  you will have a morning hunt and return to the lodge for lunch and then leave for the airport or hotel in Cordoba.

About Hunt Argentina, LLC

Woody and Joyce Bolton sponsored a booth at the Eastern Sportsman and Outdoor show in Harrisburg, PA for JJ Caceria Outfitters from February 4-12, 2012.  This was the first nine-day show we had attended.  This gets to be a long time to be on your feet!  I wasn’t sure my voice was going to hold out for the entire show.  It was truly enjoyable meeting and talking with all of you and that made the show a great success for us.  We signed up for the 2013 show as well and hope to see you there again.  Our next show will be in Columbia, SC from March 23-25, 2012.  We are looking forward to this show as it will be our first time there and it is only an hour from where our oldest son and his family live.  We will spend some time with them while in the area.  If any of you are in Columbia or nearby during our March show, please stop by and talk with us about hunting in Argentina.  July 2012 will be our busiest month for shows as we are currently booked in Birmingham, Alabama on 20-22 July 2012.  We are trying to obtain booths in Greensboro, NC for 7-9 July and Florence, SC for 27-29 July and then we hope to be back in Richmond, VA for the Sportsman & Outdoor show held at the Richmond International Raceway.  We will continue to try and get the information about the gun and trades shows out in advance, so if we are in your area, you can come out and see what we have to offer.

What you will find on www.huntargentina.net, www.argentinadove.com and www.huntingtop10.com

The website is a great way to get information out to the general public.  We have been working with Intuit in order to optimize our site and increase the search rankings.  As for things new on the site, we have added a promotion page where we will share any new promotions offered by JJ Caceria Outfitters.  On the rate page we have added the new rates for Dove hunting between March 1, 2012 and August 31, 2012.  This is a 3 night and 4 day dove hunting package at the price of $1290 (doesn’t include airfare, gun rental, license, shells, or tips).  There will be a price increase coming for the September 2012 – February 28, 2013 timeframe.  The price for the hunts in September through February will increase from $990 to $1090.  I have requested from the Outfitter information on any other price increases planned this year so I can provide you with the most current up to date information for planning your trip.  At the show in Harrisburg, PA,  I signed up for the www.huntingtop10.com website.  This is another way to get information out about JJ Caceria Outfitters and the Wing Shooting and Big Game hunting opportunities in Argentina.

Questions and Answers

1.      Question: Many people at the show in Harrisonburg asked how Red Stag are hunted with JJ Caceria Outfitters.

Answer: Most hunting is done on foot as the Big Game lodge is located in the middle of the hunting area.  A vehicle will be used to move between areas when necessary.  So the spot and stalk technique is used to hunt red stag.  Hunting is done on free ranging animals.

2.      Question:  What Argentinean Province is big game hunting conducted by JJ Caceria Outfitters?

Answer:  Most big game hunting is conducted in La Pampa Province with some Water Buffalo hunts conducted in Corrientes Province.  Most hunters fly into Buenos Aires International Airport and then transfer to the Buenos Aires local airport and then fly to either Santa Rosa or Bahia Blanco.

3.       Question:  What time of the year can Red Stag be hunted in Argentina and when is the Rut/Roaring period?

Answer:  The season for Red Stag and Fallow Deer is usually around the middle of March and runs through the end of July.  The Rut/Roaring period is usually between the last week of March and first week of April.  So this is the best time to schedule your hunt.

4.      Question:  How safe is Argentina?

Answer:  Argentina is one of the continents safest countries and as long as you take a few basic precautions, you are unlikely to encounter any problems during your stay.  Indeed, you will find many of the more rural parts of the country pretty must risk-free.  People leave doors unlocked, windows open and bikes unchained.  The Federal Police move around on foot, on horses, motorcycle or in patrol cars.  They usually don’t speak English but are very helpful.  They will usually find a way to help you.

5.      Question:  What is the voltage and hertz of electricity?

Answer:  250 volts and 50 hertz.  It is recommended that you bring a European style adapter for converting the electricity to 110 volt.

About JJ Caceria Outfitters of Cordoba, Argentina

JJ Caceria Outfitters is gearing up for the start of 2012 Big Game hunting season.  The start of Red Stag hunting at the lodge in La Pampas Province will begin when the season for Red Stags opens around March 15, 2012.  The Fallow deer season opens at approximately the same time and also runs through July 31, 2012.  The Red Stags are known for their roaring during rut season.  This is the best time to hunt for Red Stag as they are easier to locate during the run due to their roaring activities.  The rut will start approximately 23 March and run through 1st week of April.  Most hunts for the Red Stag require four days.  There are still a few opening slots left during the rut season.

JJ Caceria Outfitters has available year round Axis Deer, Blackbuck Antelope, Water Buffalo, Wild boar, Wild Sheep, Feral Goat, and 4-horned Ram.  So why wait until the last minute; book your hunts now!

Travel to the big game hunting lodge will require you to fly into Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE) and then transfer to the local airport for your flights to either Santa Rosa, or Bahia Blanco.  The flights for Santa Rosa usually depart on Mondays and you can catch a return flight on Friday to Buenos Aires.  The hunting lodge is approximately one hour from the Santa Rosa airport.  The other option is to catch a flight from Buenos Aires to Bahia Blanca which offers daily flights to and from Buenos Aires.  The drive to the hunting lodge is approximately three hours from Bahia Blanca.

The Red Stag promotional package for this year (2012) is $3500 which includes a US$2800 trophy fee and US$700 for lodging and accommodations.  Please note that the Red Stag promotional package for 2013 will go up in price to $3850.  If you book your 2013 hunts prior to August 1, 2012 you will be able to obtain the 2012 promotional price.  Book early and save $350 per hunter.
