Black Bear Hunting - We are one of the oldest Maine bear hunting camps in the Patten/ Shin pond area.


     

Our Maine bears hunts are over bait and are in areas where no other guides hunt. All bear hunters are put on our most active baits. Camp Wapiti’s bear kill ratio runs as high or higher than any camp in the State.

Maine Moose Hunting - If you’re lucky enough to draw a Maine moose permit, Camp Wapiti can arrange your moose hunt. We are ideally situated in Wildlife Management district # 5, 10, 11, 6.


     

As part of our guided moose hunt we provide transportation throughout your hunt. We also will field dress and transport the moose from the woods to the tagging station with you.

We recommend using one of our expeienced guides to increase your odds of harvesting that trophy Maine bull moose.
Moose hunts are available by State of Maine Lottery only. Applications are available from Jan. through April with the drawing held in June.

Whitetail Deer Hunting - The Northwoods of Maine produce some of the East Coast’s largest white-tailed deer, both in body and racks. Bucks with field-dressed weights of 200-250 lbs are not uncommon for the area.

                                             
There are millions of acres of land not posted; swampy, hardwood, mountainous or flatland; just waiting for you. Here at Camp Wapiti, you are free from hunter pressure. Maps are given to each deer hunter on arrival, or on making reservations. Target practice site is available to make sure your gun is sighted in.
During this time you can also hunt coyote, grouse, snowshoe hares and even bear on your big game license. We are in deer management unit #4, with unit #2 nearby, if you choose to apply for antlerless deer permit.
Weeks run from Sunday to Sunday, a full six-day deer hunt.

Upland Bird Hunting - Northern Maine has abundance of grouse and woodcock and with the many logging roads that branches off, it can offer the best hunt. Your hunting dogs are welcomed at Camp Wapiti.
Between the incredible beauty of the area, the numerous birds and the warm hospitality your hunt will always be memorable.

Accomodations - We are the only camps on the lake with individual log cabins of varying sizes nestled around the shore. Mount Katahdin, with its snowcapped peaks, can be seen right from our porches. All cabins have wood heat, electric refrigerators, and complete baths with hot showers. All bedding and towels are provided for your convenience. Enjoy our inground pool and outdoor hottub.

While looking out across the lake at Mt. Katahdin enjoy being in our rustic central dining room that has a large stone fireplace where we serve our guests home cooked meals – FAMILY STYLE from Wapiti’s own kitchen. Thus we can please everyone, even the hearty eaters!
