Archery Elk Hunting: A Stockton Outfitters’ archery hunt is just the ticket for an adrenaline addict. The reveille of bugling Bulls signals the beginning of archery season. Our guides, all excellent callers, specialize in guiding archers to trophy bulls. We take more than our share of “Pope and Young” record animals every year. Our Elk are renowned for their superior genetics and the majesty of their racks.

                       

The biggest recorded bull taken from our camp scored a Massive 419 Gross. A Stockton Bow Hunt is guaranteed to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, as your guide will use an array of calls to bring your trophy screaming toward you. With Big Bulls whistling from 10 to 30 yards, your opportunity for success is uncommonly high. Over 80% of our hunters get a good shot at an Elk.

Rifle Elk Hunting: Our Wise River base camp is nestled in the heart of the Elk’s wintering range, and let’s us get close to our quarry by 4-wd and by foot. Our Rifle hunts are conducted from tent camps when weather permits, but move to the comfort of the lodge as the heavy snows move the Elk to lower ground. Our lodge-based hunts combine the mobility and the flexibility to hunt the entirety of our 100 mile x 100 mile permit area. Over the past 30+ years, Stockton Outfitters has led hunters to scores of record Elk in the Big Hole Valley. The Bull quality and genetics in our area has remained consistent and our Rifle Elk Success Rate averages 40-60%. Our herds maintain a 30% Bull to cow ratio, which is among the highest in the Country.

Deer Hunting: You find yourself on your hands and knees, creeping between buck brush through space seeming fit for only a rabbit. Eventually you reach an opening and you stand to stretch. A blanket of snow covers the ground. You peer outward to see an entire mountainside covered with mahogany and begin to glass the hill side when a glimmer of light catches your eye. You direct your glass to find a glistening piece of horn protruding from the brush. A very deliberate and careful stalk begins against one of the most cagy animals in North America.

 
    
A Mule Deer Buck is among the most sought after and acclaimed game animals in North America. To gain their prominent racks, the Large Muley Bucks of Southwestern Montana have survived years of predator evasion and gained the wisdom to out smart, out think and out maneuver many an ardent hunter. The one time these magnificent trophies tend to let down their guard, coincides with our general rifle hunting season.

The Mule Deer rut typically begins during the week of November 10 and lasts throughout the season. Both Mule Deer and Whitetail generally inhabit the same range as our Elk, so the odds of collecting a trophy are very good.

Stockton Outfitters can arrange the Deer Hunt of a Lifetime for either Mule Deer or Whitetail Bucks. We highly recommend our combination hunt to incorporate Deer Hunting along with your Elk Hunt. A good buck with Stockton Outfitters will run 24”-30”. We do have some Grand Dads that may exceed 30”+, but they must be hunted hard.

                      

Spring Bear Hunting: Our Bear hunts are all free chase. No Dogs or bait are used. We combine spot and stalk techniques with our world renowned calling system to attain extremely high success rates. The colors range from blond to cinnamon to deep black and most square 6+ feet as only mature boars are attracted to our specialized calling system. We offer archery, rifle, black powder, and pistol opportunities. The pelts are prime and so is the hunting. Since most of our bears are taken in the last twenty minutes of day light, Spring Bear Hunting is a good time to relax and enjoy everything that Montana’s high country has to offer. It is a great time to bring along your family to fish, hike, rock hunt, ride horses, etc. Don’t forget to bring along your camera.

                     

Special Permit Hunts: Goats, Sheep, Moose, Antelope, Mountain Lions. Stockton Outfitters offers fully guided adventures for a variety of Special permit animals located in the same areas where we hunt Elk, Deer and Bear.
