Welcome to Alaska, home to some of the finest big game hunting in North America and the world. At Westwind Guide Service, you will experience one of the most dynamic and beautiful wilderness adventures of a lifetime. We have been in the guiding & outfitting business in Alaska for over 30 years. Our areas have produced many world record trophies. Yours could be next!
Moose Hunts: We are serious about hunting and harvesting big Alaska bull moose. For many years we have maintained 85-95% kill success with nearly 20% of them making record book entries. Alaska moose are the largest member of the deer family and carry the largest antlers of any species on the North American continent. Mature Alaska bull moose can weigh anywhere from 1,400 - 1,600 lbs. with antlers that spread 60-70"+. A great trophy from any hunting trip!
Annually we take 4 to 8 hunters total. You can book the trip as a moose hunt only, or as a combination hunt to include another species. Most folks do book combo hunts.
Each hunter, or group of two, if booked as a 2x1, hunts exclusively from their own camp for the entire season with no one else hunting in that area that year. In other words, no competition from other clients, or anyone else. The only people around your hunting camp will be you, your guide and a packer/camp helper. On average, our hunters see and pass up 2-6 mature bulls before harvesting one and this does not include smaller bulls, cows or calves.
Fall Bear Hunts: Some of the biggest bears killed in Alaska come from this region and we have a proven track record of personalized, first class trophy hunts. Someone once said hunting brown bear or grizzly in Alaska is 98% boredom and 2% sheer terror. While this statement is true in some instances, it is not the general rule. Hunting grizzly bear does require a great deal of patience, resilience to inclement weather and a great deal of glassing. But make absolutely sure you have a big enough gun and know how to shoot it accurately. We suggest something in the .300 Magnum class, or larger.
