Trout Fishing, Hunting For Moose, Caribou and Black Bear In Canada

Located in the remote heart of Newfoundland's Hunting and Fishing country, Sandy Lake Lodge has one of the highest population densities of Moose, Woodland Caribou & Black Bear found anywhere. Grand Slam Hunts are common.


For the fishing enthusiast, Sandy Lake Lodge offers bait and fly fishing at its best. Trophy catches of Brown, Mud, Brook and Speckled Trout are found in nearby waters, as are Atlantic Salmon and Quinaniche. Fly-in fishing trips are available.

Experienced Local Guides, superb hunting and fishing areas, and easy access from rendevous points, ensure that Sandy Lake Lodge will continue the high success rates (over 90%) of past seasons, with Bulls exceeding 40 inches being taken weekly.

Accommodations: Offering private rooms, hot & cold running water, showers, flush toilet facilities, and other conveniences, make a stay at Sandy Lake Lodge a pleasurable one. Your stay is further enhanced by the finest culinary delights, specially prepared by our experienced cooks.

Moose: The season runs from the second week in September until November 30th. Combination hunts (with Black Bear, Caribou or both) are also available. As are Fly in Hunts.

Black Bear: The spring season runs from early May until late June; the Fall Black Bear season, from mid Sept until end of October. Fishing trips available with Spring Bear Hunt. Both Caribou and/or Moose available with the Fall Bear Hunt, until November 1.

Woodland Caribou: The season runs from the second week in September until November 30th. Combination hunts (with Black Bear, Moose or both) are also available. As are Fly in Hunts.

Fishing: Sandy Lake Lodge offers some of the finest Trout fishing found anywhere. Whether you're in search of Mud, Brown, Brook or Speckled; even Atlantic Salmon, and Quinaniche, you will find trophy catches only minutes from our Lodge. The Trout Fishing season runs from May 30th until August 31st.

Snowmobiling: Year round adventure with Snowmobiling packages, that allow you to explore the untamed wilderness of central Newfoundland. The photographer will find breathtaking panoramas of unspoiled wilderness and the pristine beauty of the area will be long remembered. Ice Fishing, Snowmobile excursions and much more, make for an unforgettable winter adventure.

Fly-In Wilderness Adventure Excursions:
Our Enstrom Helicopter, flown by one of Sandy Lakes most qualified guides, will fly you, a qualified guide and a cook to one of our Outpost Camps for three days and two nights. You and your meat will then be flown back to our Main Lodge where you can continue your hunt.
