Here at Blue's Wilderness Hunts, we take a maximum 5 hunters per week, this is to insure a quality hunt to it's fullest. Because of the limited number of people, we can be more personal and attentive to your needs.

My name is Dwaine (Blue) Lord. I have lived & hunted in Patten, Maine all my life. I started guiding in 1965 at age 18 and know the area well. Patten offers excellent trophy hunting for Black Bear, WhiteTail Deer, Moose &Coyote.

The outdoor experience, along with the learning experience, is what truly defines a successful hunt. Also part of a successful hunt is learning things that make one a better hunter - learning to do what others cannot do. In putting my guide service together, I have focused on the hunting experience, teaching/ learning, and ensuring the hunter feels primary responsibility for their hunting success. Maine Black Bear Hunting over active bait in September or foot hold snaring in late September and October. Black bear being a hunter like you, has the ability to smell a potato at 100 yards a foot under ground. They can also hear the click of a safety from over 50 yards.

Bear Foothold Snaring This spring activated foothold bear snare is a safe way to catch black bear. It is used by biologists and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for safe release to the bear after studies are done. It has been used to safely catch and release over 200 bear in the last 5 years. By law, each individual can set 2 foothold snares, which we provide. Experience the adventure of a lifetime with a one-on-one (fully-guided) hunt. This is the most exhilarating adrenaline rush that you will find in no other hunt. Our Whitetail Deer Hunts: fully guided or semi-guided deer hunt. This is the area of Maine that the legendary typical and non-typical bucks come from. Huge Bucks are harvested here every year. Bucks over 200 pounds are not uncommon.

Bow hunters Special: This is the ultimate hunt for the bow hunter enthusiast. During the month of October you can hunt Deer, Bear, Coyote, Ruffed Grouse, Pheasant and Snowshoe Hare with a bow.
