Hunting in North Carolina for Whitetail
Deer, Black Bear, Turkey with Bass Fishing
North
Hampton County is always at the top of the list when it comes to great
Whitetail deer hunting in North Carolina. North Hampton boasts the most
bucks and total deer per square mile as well as the top producer of number
of bucks taken and number of deer harvested per square mile in the entire
state. We also enjoy the most liberal bag limit on deer as well as a long
season. All of our hunting is done from above ground stands that are easy
to get in to, very safe, and comfortable to use. The terrain that we hunt
ranges from crop fields of peanuts, soybeans, clover, and milo to hardwood
ridges, pine thickets, swamp bottoms, and cutover. We lease thousands
of acres of privately owned farms every year and are constantly scouting
these to do everything we can to make your outdoor experience the most
enjoyable that we can offer.
Hunting Lodge: Lily Pond Creek Hunting Lodge is a
large modernized two-story farm house that offers you all the comforts
of home. With our central location and easy access, we are just hours
from anyone on the East Coast. Our Lodge will accommodate up to sixteen
people but we prefer to handle only 8 to 10 at a time. You will enjoy
home-cooked meals from Southern dishes to wild game. The beds always have
fresh linen so no need for that sleeping bag. We will handle your game
and prepare it for you to transport home and keep it in our large walk-in
cooler until your departure. We also have a processing facility here for
your convenience.
Archery
Season: starts very early in September and usually runs for four weeks.
We have taken bucks that are still in velvet which make very impressive
trophies because of our early season. At this time of year the deer are
totally undisturbed and will be feeding and traveling almost any time
of the day. The weather is usually warm and insects are still out, so
light clothing and insect repellent is recommended. Most hunting is done
from portable tree stands, although we do have a few ground blinds for
those who dislike to climb. We do have some portables available but it
is best to bring your own favorite as well as proper safety equipment.
Black
Powder Season: is in early October and lasts for one week. The deer
are still unpressured and are moving and feeding all day. The bucks are
in pre-rut and moving a lot as well as chasing some does. The weather
is still very mild and makes for very enjoyable hunting. All hunting is
done from comfortable, above ground permanent stands.
Gun Season: starts in the middle of October and runs
until the beginning of January. This long season catches the entire rut.
Because we hunt on private leases, our deer remain virtually undisturbed
during the entire rifle season. At this time of year the weather can range
from very mild to freezing, but never harsh. All rifle hunting is done
from above ground permanent stands.
Our
Hunting Guides: Dwayne Whitley and Dock Boone, have extensive animal
knowledge, woodsman ship, and experience. Their decisions should be respected.
They are constantly scouting daily to give you the best opportunity to
harvest your trophy. They will provide field transportation to and from
your stand and care for your trophy when it is down. Professionally performed
skinning and caping of your deer is provided. For those who prefer to
do it themselves, equipment and help is available.
