C & L Hunts, Guide and Outfitter Service offers elk, deer, oryx, barbary sheep, and turkey hunts on public and private land. Our goal is to give you a white-collar hunt at a blue-collar price.

The southern Sacramento Mountains provide an opportunity to hunt trophy class animals. The mountains range in elevation from 6,500 to over 9,000 feet. The terrain consists of meadows, canyons, timbered ridges of pines, aspens and oaks and borders the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation.

The terrain is mountainous, yet more forgiving than a wilderness hunt. Physical conditioning still has an important role in being able to come to this area and successfully hunt elk. Hunters who can cover ground on foot will fare much better than those who can't. Most hunting takes place on foot, but we also use horses.

Elk: Muzzleloader or Rifle

Mule Deer: Bow, Muzzleloader or Rifle

Turkey - Spring & Fall: Shotgun or Bow

Barbary Sheep: Any Weapon

The Oryx deadline is 3 Feb 07 and most other species such as Elk and Deer is 7 April.

Deer and Elk Hunts include lodging, meals, field accommodations and transportation, packing of gear and trophies, in-field game care and guide fees. If desired, 1 on 1 guides are available on all hunts for an additional fee. Non-hunting guests are welcome for all hunts for an additional fee.

Accommodations are dependent on the number of hunters in camp. Our cabin can accommodate up to 4 hunters. Some hunters may bunk up in a camper. All hunters will have access to phone, Internet, bathroom and shower.


Lodging: The hunts are conducted out of a comfortable cabin located in the middle of the best elk country. In the evening you can watch TV, check your e-mail, or just enjoy the hot fire. The hunts are guided either 2 x 1 or a 1 x 1 basis. These hunts include all meals. Just bring your clothes and weapon.

Hunts are limited to no more than 4 hunters to ensure personalized service.
