Mike Kuchera's South Dakota Guide Service Inc has been offering wild pheasant hunting on the farms of south central South Dakota since 1972. Our Wild Pheasant hunts are based out of Mitchell, South Dakota, only 70 miles west of Sioux Falls on I-90. Mike is dedicated to providing you with "an unforgettable Wild Pheasant hunt".

On our pheasant hunts, it is very common to see 200 - 300 Wild Pheasants each day. We hunt within a 50 mile radius of Mitchell. We hunt in a traditional walk and block style of hunting and have prime habitat hunting at a different farm or area each day of the hunt. Emphasis is on safety. Our hunts are very organized allowing everyone involved to enjoy the hunt. Mike personally guides each of the groups along with other experienced guides and a dog handler.


Groups & Corporate Hunts: Mike Kuchera's South Dakota Guide Service Inc has specialized in group hunts and catering to businesses and groups of friends or associates over the past 35 years. Hunting Packages: Our hunts are based on a per person price, with each person having their own private room for each day of hunting. We offer 2 and 3 day Pheasant hunts beginning the 3rd weekend in October until the close of the season which is usually around the 1st of January. We also offer two-day Sharp-tail Grouse and Prairie Chicken hunts in September. Our Premium Packages include everything except your SD Hunting license, state sales tax, rental vehicle to get around town and out to the field and gratuities. We offer a group hospitality room, wine with the evening dinner and a trapshooting warm-up. The delicious hot field buffets put together by Mike's staff get great reviews by the hunters. Accommodations: We use one of the best properties in Mitchell, the award-winning Hampton Inn which is easily accessible right along I-90. The hotel offers many great amenities such as an exercise room, Jacuzzi, indoor pool, great lobby with fireplace and an elevator. Their great staff makes our clients feel welcome and the housekeeping staff are great keeping the beautiful rooms sparkling clean. The Hampton Inn room comes with a delicious breakfast. The Hampton Inn is within walking distance from two great bars, a bank, Walmart, Cabela's, a convenience store, two restaurants and a shopping mall.


Since our sharp-tail grouse and prairie chicken hunts are based out of Valentine, Nebraska, which is approximately 170 miles southeast of Rapid City, South Dakota, many people fly into Rapid City's airport (RAP). Private aircraft can also fly directly into Valentine. This hunt includes two nights lodging at the Holiday Inn Express in Valentine. Both hotels have beautiful, clean guest rooms with many amenities including very comfortable bedding and high speed wireless internet.





Sharptail Grouse & Prairie Chicken Hunts: This is a completely separate hunt from our Pheasant hunts and is available in September and the first part of October. Based out of Valentine, Nebraska, which is only a few miles from the South Dakota border, the hunt includes two nights at the beautiful Holiday Inn Express of Valentine . You will enjoy Valentine, which is a thriving community in the heart of beef country with lots to do in the evenings. We hunt on the wide open prairies of South Dakota similar to the scenery in the "Dances With Wolves" epic movie.





International Bird Hunting: Give Mike a call if you are interested in bird hunting in Scotland during January, New Zealand during April and May and the Big Island of Hawaii during January.

A 50% deposit is due upon booking to confirm your hunt.
