Mike Kuchera's South Dakota Pheasant Hunting and Guide Service has been offering Pheasant, Sharptail Grouse and Prairie Hunts since 1972. It is common to see hundreds of wild pheasants each day! Mike guarantees "you will have plenty of shooting and leave with your limit of birds." He is dedicated to providing you with "an unforgettable wild pheasant hunt." Wild pheasant hunting in South Dakota is a unique, wonderful experience.

Groups & Corporate Hunts: Mike Kuchera's South Dakota Pheasant Hunting and Guide Service specializes in group hunts catering to businesses and corporations. Small groups are combined to ensure a successful hunt. Emphasis is on safety. Women shooters will feel especially welcome as Mike's spouse, Debra, an experienced wingshooter and dog handler, will accompany groups as needed.

Sharptail Grouse & Prairie Chicken: 3 day hunts in September and early October. You will hunt in panoramic South Dakota settings. Chances are you will not only see sharptails and prairie chickens; but, also coyote, whitetail deer, prairie dog, pheasant and wild turkey. If you enjoy walking, appreciate nature and want to experience a hunt that is apart from the rest, then this is for you!


Accommodations-Sharptail Grouse & Prairie Chicken: Hunts are based out of Valentine, Nebraska. You can fly commercially into Rapid City, South Dakota, which is 170 miles northwest of Valentine. Or you can fly directly into Valentine with private plane. In Valentine you will be staying at the Trade Winds Lodge, a family-owned motel that caters to sportsmen and women. Each hunter has his/ her own private room. Hunts in Valentine include a sit-down country breakfast, hot lunch and a great evening dinner.

Pheasant Hunting Packages: pheasant hunts are based out of Mitchell, South Dakota, the heart of South Dakota's world-famous pheasant hunting country. It is located a little over one hour's drive west of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. You can fly commercially into Sioux Falls or directly into Mitchell with any private plane. We offer complete packages, usually 3-day hunts, and will customize hunting packages to fit your needs. Leave all of the arrangements to Mike.

Accommodations-Pheasant Hunts: Deluxe accommodations at Mitchell's newest hotel, the Hampton Inn. Each hunter has his/her own private room, and the hotel offers many great amenities such as an exercise room, jacuzzi, indoor pool, great lobby with fireplace, and a business room. Mike also offers a hospitality room where the hunters can gather together. Included in the hunting packages are a delicious breakfast, hot lunch in the field, and evening dinner.
