Hello! Lunksoos Camps is a traditional Maine sporting camp. We are situated deep in the woods on the beautiful East Branch of the Penobscot River. We provide pleasant cabins with basic amenities; our guests come for the excellent hunting in the fall, spring fishing, and for family vacations and back-to-nature experiences at any time of year.

Hunting and fishing Big game thrives in the rich habitat here. Lunksoos Camps serves bear, moose, and deer hunters with guided or unguided hunts. Black bears are taken in late summer, and moose, large deer and upland game birds in the fall. Fishermen and women enjoy fishing for landlocked salmon, brook trout, and brown trout in the many ponds and streams in our area.

New for 2006: deer hunting with a crossbow and a turkey hunt in our area.

Black Bear Hunt: If you are new to Maine black bear hunting, we want you to know it gives you with the thrill of a lifetime. The heart pounding adrenaline rush when you encounter your quarry is something only those who've been through it can put into words. No matter if you're in a tree stand or in a ground blind, your heart and blood pressure are going to crank up a notch or two.

We provide Maine bear-over-bait guided hunts deep in the wilderness. Our bait sites cover a 250 square mile area. We maintain a minimum of two sites per hunter to insure success. We use tree stands and ground blinds, at the bear hunter's preference. You can hunt with a rifle, bow, muzzleloader or handgun -- the choice is yours.

What's Included: Maine black bear hunting rate includes cabin rental for 6 nights, guide service, 3 delicious meals a day, initial transportation to your stand, and skinning. Butchering can be obtained locally at a reasonable fee. The cabins are well built, clean, fully furnished housekeeping cabins.

We also provide meals and lodging for hunters who prefer to use their own bait / bait sites and for non-hunters for an additional fee..

Moose Hunting: compete by state lottery for a license. You are assigned a district in which to hunt. Lunksoos Camps is located in Wildlife Management District 10.

Guided Hunt: Owner and registered Maine Guide Lee Bertsch can provide you with expert guide service. Lee has been hunting the North Maine Woods for 35 years and will help you have a rewarding experience.


Self Guided Hunt: take advantage of our fantastic hunting location for a self-guided hunt. Lunksoos Camps provides the great combination of comfortable, private cabins within first class hunting and outdoor recreation territory. We are on a river, the East Branch of the Penobscot, and near 2 major streams. The combination of water, cover and plentiful food for game animals make this area an exciting place to hunt.

For All Cabins: Guests usually bring sleeping bags, pillows, and bath towels, so please let us know if you need us to provide bed linens and towels for you. We supply wood for campfires. Cabins have kitchens, so you can bring and cook your own food, or we can cook for you at $50/day per person.
