Welcome to Crooked Arrow Outfitters! We offer and specialize in remote
wilderness, fair chase Elk, Deer, Bear, and Mountain Lion hunts. Our permitted
area (units 7 and 9) is located in Idaho St. Joe National Forest. It is
600 square miles of some of the most beautiful country God created. Base
camp is located at 5800'. You will be greeted by our guides, wranglers
and cook who are waiting to make your trip the most enjoyable and memorable
experience. Base Camp consists of tent camps with woodstoves, shower tent
and great home cooked food.
Our hunts are a fair chase wilderness experience. Let Crooked Arrow Outfitters
give you that experience.
Included in Hunt: lodging, food and drinks (excluding alcohol)
once you reach camp. Transportation to and from Missoula, MT airport is
also included. Meat and hide will be prepared for your trip home. Meat
processing and taxidermy can be arranged at the hunter’s expense.
Elk Archery Hunts (September): We offer both Archery and Rifle Elk
hunts. The St. Joe is located in the Bitterroot Mountains. These mountains
are rugged with steep terrains. It is very important that you are in the
best physical shape possible. We may use horses and mules to reach our
spike camps. Our day begins before the sun comes up and ends after the
sun goes down. Hunting Elk with a bow is one of the most exciting and
thrilling experiences a bow hunter can have. There is “just something”
about getting up close and personal! These hunts may be roaming camps
in order to increase your opportunity to take your Bull.
Elk
Rifle (October) and Muzzleloader (November) Hunts: With the first
week of rifle falling during the end of Elk Rut, this hunt can prove to
be a very exciting hunt. Usually by November snow is falling and the Elk
are migrating to lower elevations. This gives you a greater opportunity
to harvest your Bull with a muzzleloader. Your archery, rifle or muzzleloader
hunting experience can be increased by purchasing a deer tag. With this
tag you can kill a Deer, Dear (incidental) OR Mountain Lion (incidental).
Only ONE of these animals can be killed using the Deer tag.

Black Bear Hunts Spring (Mid May - Mid June) and Fall (Sept. - Oct.):
Our Black Bear hunts are located in the St. Joe National Forest of Idaho.
We operate in units 7 and 9. The Bears in this area are known for their
large size and variations of color. Around 50 percent of these Bears are
color phase. Our hunts are either baited or spot/stalk. There are NO BUGS.
Yes, you read it right, no bugs. Unlike our friends to the north, Canada
and Maine, we do not have black flies or mosquitoes that can easily distract
you. You'll have a 100% opportunity to harvest your Bear.
Mountain
Lion Hunts (Nov.): Our Mountain Lion hunts are located in the Bitterroot
Mountains of St. Joe National Forest in Idaho. We operate in units 7 and
9 where a large amount of lions are located. Unlike many other areas,
we are guaranteed tag. Both of these factors increase your chances to
harvest a Mountain Lion. The thrilling physical hunt begins in the early
morning, where we begin seeking out Cat tracks. Once the dogs are on a
track, the chase begins. When the Cat is treed, nothing can describe the
sight of the Lion staring down at you. These hunts are either archery
or rifle. They are physically demanding, so being prepared will increase
your enjoyment of the experience.
