Hunting in Montana for Moose, Sheep, Mtn Goat, Antelope,
Black Bear, Big Cats, Elk, Mule Deer

Rick Wemple Outfitting, Inc. offers Archery and Rifle guided ‘fair chase’ combination hunts for Elk and Deer in the Fall, and in addition he offer Spring Black Bear hunts and Winter Cougar (Mountain Lion) hunts.

Rick was born and raised in the Bitterroot Mountains of Montana and Idaho and has over 30 years of hunting experience in this region.

Hunting is primarily by 4 x 4 vehicles. Horses and mules are used for game retrieval. Most hunting is done on foot. Since there are many remote road-less areas, our guides try to hunt places with little or no hunting pressure. Guides are licensed and trained in calling, stalking, dressing, capeing, skinning, and will get your game to a processor or cold storage.

Included in the Hunt: All transportation to and from the airport is provided. All accommodations, meals, guides, 4 x 4 vehicles and equipment are provided. All you need is personal gear, weapon, license and tag. We seriously consider the ability, comfort and safety of our guests!

Black Bear Hunts: The best time for Bear Hunting is April, May or September. Pelts are prime at this time of year and make for the best rugs or life-size mounts. Black Bear population in this portion of the Rockies comes in various shades of Black, Brown, Cinnamon and Honey colors. Transportation on all Spring Bear Hunts will primarily be 4-wheel drive vehicles. All hunts are spot and stalk. We do not use dogs or bait. You will see an abundance of other game, elk, deer, moose, etc., so bring your camera and plenty of film.

Archery or Rifle Elk Hunts:
Trophy size bulls are numerous, and, for serious hunters, available. My guides will try their hardest to get you a shot. Areas we hunt in Montana provide little or no pressure during the bugle season for elk. The rising number of trophy animals has greatly increased your chances of scoring on a bull elk. Experienced guides will hunt in close with you, trying hard to get you that shot. Guides are experienced elk callers and will do all the bugling or cow calling for you.

Cougar Hunts: Our Cougar Hunts run in December AND January. The hunts are based out of our Guest Ranch. The Cougar population is at an all time high. We use dogs for the chase on these big cats. We use snowmobiles, 4-wheel drive vehicles, and snowshoes for transportation on these hunts. Everything except your own personal gear and license is furnished. We recommend the use of a handgun or archery on a cougar hunt.

Antelope Hunts: We hunt on private land and all access fees, food, lodging and transportation during the hunt are furnished. You will be lodged at a motel with restaurant meals provided. The hunts are spot and stalk using 4-wheel drive vehicles for transportation along with some walking. The weather at this time of year can be unstable, but typically we have cool mornings and evenings with warm days. It is a beautiful time of year to be out on the prairies of Eastern Montana.

The Rick Wemple's School of Guiding / Outfitting: the most comprehensive training courses offered today for a rewarding career of becoming a Professional Outfitter and/or Guide.
