Stone Meadow The Ranch offers the finest in buffalo hunting in the Black Hills of South Dakota. A Buffalo Hunter’s Dream! Quiet, comfortable accommodations and local attractions make Stonemeadow Ranch a place the entire family will love. We accommodate only "One" hunting group at a time. They get the entire fully furnished 2700 sq. ft. Log Lodge to themselves. We encourage hunters to bring their families since the lodge sleeps 9 comfortably. The lodge is also available in off season for vacation rentals.

About Buffalo Hunting in South Dakota: to date, buffalo hunters at Stonemeadow Ranch have all taken home trophy bulls, scoring high enough to make the record books! Although buffalo can be hunted any time of year, their coats are most dense during the cold winter months. We recommend you schedule your hunt during the winter. Weather during October through February can vary greatly. The average daily temperatures will be in the 30-40 degree range, but it can also dip below zero.

You’ll find the 1200-acre terrain at Stonemeadow Ranch varies greatly. There are open meadows, box canyons, ponderosa pine and cedar grows, offering plenty of places for buffalo to live in their original habitat. Since Stonemeadow Ranch is privately owned, no hunting license is required. How big are the animals at Stonemeadow Ranch? Mature bull may weigh up to 2,500 pounds. Younger bulls will average about 1,200 pounds. Cows generally weigh 950-1,110 pounds.



Elk Hunting: let our experienced guides accompany you on a 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 basis. A taxidermist is available for caping and preparation of hides and scoring of your trophy bull. Meat will be rapidly processed and readied for shipment.

Winter Hunting: excellent hunt for a trophy bull in terrain that is accessible even to those who do not wish physical demands of a remote Elk hunt. Bow and Rifle hunts are available. These bulls are big and respond readily to bugling. Hunts are arranged on an individual basis late August - December.


Other Activities: Hiking, horseback riding are available at the ranch. South Dakota also has seasonal fishing, pheasant and turkey hunting, excellent whitetail and mule deer hunting near ranch. It is minutes away from Jewel Cave, Wind Cave Park, and Mount Rushmore.
