Hunting for Bear, Antelope, Mule Deer, Mtn Lion, Elk, Moose

Tangle Ridge Outfitters & Guides was founded by hunters for hunters. Our hunts are 100% fair chase - no game fences or guaranteed kill situations. Rifle & Archery hunts for Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Moose, Bear and Cougar. Combo hunts available. We believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Location: Greybull, Wyoming. Our business is family owned & operated mainly in the Bighorn National Forest under Special Use Permit. We also operate on private land leases. We select our ranches for quantity & quality of game.

Trophy Mule Deer Hunting:
one of the most sought after species in the West. Tangle Ridge Outfitters can assure a great hunting experience. We offer many different opportunities to hunt Mule Deer. Depending on your hunting style preference you can choose from a mountain back country pack-in hunt, a mountain cabin hunt conducted on private land, and two other different private ranches in the lower elevations of Wyoming. All four of our hunting locations offer good quality and quantity of deer. Over the past few years our success rate has been nearly 100%.

Scouting & Preparation: We spend many days scouting and preparing for you hunt long before the season open. However, the harvest success of each hunt depends on weather conditions and the ability and desire of each individual.

Black Bear Hunts, Wyoming:
The Big Horn Mountains are home to the largest population of Black Bear in the state of Wyoming. Spring Black Bear season is open from May 15th to June 15th. During this time bears are just coming out of hibernation in search of feed. Wyoming law prohibits hound hunting thus we utilize mostly bait hunting over active proven baits in the evenings and generally prefer to use spot and stalk methods in the early mornings. Our area supports about a 50/50 color phase with half being black, blond, chocolate, or cinnamon. Only 6 bear hunters a year will be booked.

Idaho Spring Bear Hunt - Hound/Bait Hunt:
Our region of Idaho offers some of the best bear hunting in the United States. This region features the 4 unique color variations of black bear, including black, blonde, brown, and cinnamon. Perhaps the best aspect of our bear hunts is that we are not plagued by the black flies that you will find in Canada. Both bait and hounds can be utilized during the spring bear hunt. A combination of a hound/bait hunt usually yields the best chance for a real trophy. We conduct our bear hunts from mid-May to season closing date, June 15th.

Antelope Hunting in Wyoming: an exciting and yet highly successful experience for every hunter from the beginner to the pro. The antelope are plentiful which provides a great opportunity for most everyone to harvest an animal. Don't let the over abundance of antelope in our state fool you into thinking this hunt is too easy. Antelope are a wily, sharp sensed, fast moving animal which provides and exciting challenge. We offer a couple of different options in our antelope hunts including a rifle and archery hunt. These hunts can easily be paired as an antelope/mule deer combination. If you harvest early in the day, you may also have the opportunity to visit a nearby Prairie Dog town.

Elk Hunting: Whether you're a new raghorn chaser or an experienced wapiti stalker we have a hunt for you. Hunt in remote areas of the Big Horn Mountains with two different base camps, Diamond Tail Cabins and Backcountry Camp. These areas hold great Elk in both quality and quantity. Rifle, archery, muzzleloaders, as well as crossbow hunts. On average a mature Bull will range from a 260 - 320 class Bull. All of the archery hunts are during prime bugling season. Calling will be the preferred technique. To hunt during the Rut is one of the most exhilarating hunts you'll ever experience. The rifle hunts will combine some calling, spot & stalk, and tracking. All Guides are well trained. Real trophies are there to be had.

Moose Hunts: While drawing a moose tag for our area is challenging it isn’t impossible and with the preference point system the dream of hunting a trophy moose in the Big Horns becomes a reality for a handful of hunters each year. We hunt this area 95% of the year and we often see moose while on other big game hunts.

Mountain Lion/Cougar:
Lion hunting is not just a winter past time for us, its serious business. These hunts depend heavily on favorable weather conditions, but with good snow cover, success on past hunts had been good. This animal is a highly elusive cat which makes them a prize to be had amongst hunters. Our hounds are trained and continuously exercised in hunting these sleek natured animals.

Summer Pack Trips: an excellent nontraditional vacation with family and friends! Warm weather, high mountain scenery, abundant sight-seeing, and wildlife photography are the perks of one of these classic outings. This haven of recreation is largely secluded especially when compared to the busy thorofares of Yellowstone country just a few mile to the west. In the Big Horn Mountains you will see more of the west the way it was; the way it ought to be. We'll tailor the adventure to match the experience you have in mind. With small groups our guests will learn more and experience more with our private approach to back country outfitting. If you are in search of a beautiful remote hide-a way, we won't tell anyone you're here.

Guides: Our guides are licensed and knowledgeable and will accompany you 100% on your hunt to ensure the best possible chance at harvesting an animal. They are skilled and experienced individuals that know their business. They will pack, dress, skin, and cape your trophy. They share our views and are committed to doing everything possible to make your hunt a success, and an experience you will want to enjoy again and again.

Accommodations: vary on different hunts from deluxe wall tent camps, cabins or bunkhouses, to a farm house and in some cases modern motel facilities. Please ask for details on specific hunts.

Professionalism and Pride: are the keys to providing the best in high quality, personalized adventures for every client. Tangle Ridge Outfitters & Guides is committed to providing our guests with an experience they won't soon forget. We believe that a successful hunt cannot be measured solely by the harvested trophy, but more so by the total experience.

Unlike "Big Time" outfitters we like to keep a lower profile and get to know our clients. Your stories become our stories and vice versa. The time spent in camp around the campfire or the dinner table, getting to know each other, is undeniably one of the best aspects of the hunt. Over the years many of our clients have become "regulars" and are now more like friends or family than clients. We are proud of this and sincerely hope for the opportunity to provide you with a totally satisfying experience and a chance to prove that this is how hunting ought to be.
