Hunting for Bear, Antelope, Mule Deer, Mtn Lion, Elk, Moose
|
Tangle Ridge Outfitters and Guides is a a family owned and full time,
licensed business. We operate on the Bighorn National Forest under a Special
Use Permit as well as many private ranches. We offer fair chase rifle
and archery hunts for Elk, Mule Deer, Moose, Bear Cougar, Merriam's Turkey,
and Antelope. The only means of access to our remote mountain area is
a short horseback ride. Motorized access is prohibited and for this reason
we seldom see other hunters.
Hunting Guides: Our guides are licensed and knowledgeable and will
accompany you 100% on your hunt to ensure the best possible chance at
harvesting an animal. They are skilled, physically fit professionals that
know their business. They will pack, dress, skin, and cape your animals.
There are no hidden “trophy fees”—the price of the hunt remains the same
regardless of the size of the animal you harvest.
Accommodations:
We take pride in our camp which consists of guest tents, guide tents,
and a cook tent. Each tent has its own wood stove and comfy cots with
foam pads to sleep on. Camp is staffed with an experienced cook to prepare
hearty meals and a wrangler who will make sure you have a rested and ready
horse. We look forward to hunting with you in the future. We truly believe
this is the way hunting ought to be.
Black
Bear Hunts, Wyoming: The Big Horn Mountains are home to the largest
population of Black Bear in the state of Wyoming. Spring Black Bear season
is open from May 15th to June 15th. During this time bears are just coming
out of hibernation in search of feed. Wyoming law prohibits hound hunting
thus we utilize mostly bait hunting over active proven baits in the evenings
and generally prefer to use spot and stalk methods in the early mornings.
Our area supports about a 50/50 color phase with half being black, blond,
chocolate, or cinnamon. Only 6 bear hunters a year will be booked.
Idaho
Spring Bear Hunt - Hound/Bait Hunt: Our region of Idaho offers some
of the best bear hunting in the United States. This region features the
4 unique color variations of black bear, including black, blonde, brown,
and cinnamon. Perhaps the best aspect of our bear hunts is that we are
not plagued by the black flies that you will find in Canada. Both bait
and hounds can be utilized during the spring bear hunt. A combination
of a hound/bait hunt usually yields the best chance for a real trophy.
We conduct our bear hunts from mid-May to season closing date, June 15th.
Elk Hunts: We hunt in a remote area of the Big Horn Mountains;
the coveted area #40. Motorized access to this area is restricted which
means you have the luxury of hunting without the crowds or ATV’s. The
area is also almost completely void of wolves and grizzlies unlike our
neighbors in Idaho and even the Yellowstone areas. All of the archery
hunts will be during prime bugling season. Calling will be the preferred
technique during this period. To hunt during the rut is one of the most
exhilarating hunts you’ll ever experience. The rifle hunts will combine
some calling, spot and stalk, and tracking.
Mule
Deer, Wyoming: Trophy mule deer are one of the most sought after species
in the west. Our mule deer tags are on a draw basis, but draw success
rate is nearly 100% .
Mule Deer - Rifle & Muzzloader, Nebraska: 5000 acre private
land lease. The deer on this ranch have not been heavily hunted for years.
The hunt is run from a rented farm house, with all meals and lodging included.
The hunt is done by 4x4 and spot and stalk.
Moose
Hunts: While drawing a moose tag for our area is challenging it isn’t
impossible and with the preference point system the dream of hunting a
trophy moose in the Big Horns becomes a reality for a handful of hunters
each year. We hunt this area 95% of the year and we often see moose while
on other big game hunts.
Mtn. Lion/Cougar: Lion hunting is not just a winter past time for
us, its serious business. These hunts depend heavily on favorable weather
conditions, but with good snow cover, success on past hunts had been good.
This animal is a highly elusive cat which makes them a prize to be had
amongst hunters. Our hounds are trained and continuously exercised in
hunting these sleek natured animals.
Antelope Hunt: We’ve recently added a private ranch lease for antelope
located just a few miles outside of Cheyenne WY. The ranch is approximately
8000 acres and the antelope are plentiful which provides and exceptional
opportunity for every hunter to take home a trophy buck. The 4 day archery
hunt is operated from a tent camp where all of the meals and accommodations
excluding your gear will be provided. You will be hunting from blinds
set up strategically at well used water sources of the antelope. Opening
day is August 15th.
