Your adventure starts by flying or driving into Grande Prairie, Alberta — one of the great pioneer cities of Northern Canada. We’ll be at the airport to greet you and drive you out to our nearby country home and staging centre.

Once you’re geared up, we’ll drive the two hours to our base camp in the Rocky foothills. Our combined territory is a massive area (over 5000 square km’s / 2,300 square miles) surrounded by provincial parks and untouched wilderness. From lush green moose swamps to glacier-crusted peaks stretching up over 9,000 feet to countless alpine lakes and sunny mountain slopes, you won’t be lacking in scenery. Best of all, the limited access to the area allows us to maintain a population of some of the largest moose, elk, mountain goats, and black bears in Canada — as well as wolves, mule deer, and cougars.

Trophy Moose Hunts: The vast wilderness of our territory is home to some of the best Canada moose hunting around. Trophy Elk Hunts: All of our Rocky Mountain Elk hunts are done in a trophy zone, which means we have a 6-point minimum. Our area is known for dark, heavy, large-frame stock that make for excellent trophies. Our hunts take place deep in the Rocky Mountains and foothills, making for scenic and challenging adventures. With our variety of hunt locations and camp options we can personalize trips to each hunter’s ability.

Mountain Goat Hunts: Compass Mountain Outfitters has world class mountain goats. This challenging mountain hunt will take you into the most scenic parts of our territory. We have a high goat population and strategically placed camps to ensure that this hunt will be high success. Wether you want to focus solely on a trophy billy or pair a goat hunt with moose and elk, we will build your dream mountain adventure.

Black Bear Hunts: Want an affordable, action-packed spring adventure where you see tons of game and stay in awesome cozy camps? Our bear hunts are in mountain zones, where baiting isn’t allowed. We use the spot and stalk methods with the option to do a hound hunt. Our bears are big, averaging over 6 foot and we boast about 25% color phase.

We normally stage out of our beautiful main camp during the spring hunts making this a fun social hunt for groups. Whitetail & Mule Deer Hunts: We are lucky enough to have both these deer species in our vast area and are happy to offer hunts for both either individually or added to other species hunts as combos. Feel free to contact us as we do love to personalize adventures for our customers. If you have a specific mix that you’re looking for, contact us and we’ll do our best to work something out.

Predator Hunts (Cougar, Lynx, Wolf) Our hunting zones have a high population of large wolves, in a broad range of colourings. For fall hunts, wolves are usually howled in or harvested while chasing a moose. In the winter, they can either be howled in or taken over baits from a blind. Although wolves are naturally elusive, the size of the local population here makes our zones as good a spot as anywhere to pick up a rare trophy.
