Duck and Goose Hunting in the northern grainland of Saskatchewan, right in the middle of the Central Flyway.
Big Bend is a family business, started by Reg and Tanis Quaale over 20 years ago. They have recently sold the business to their son-in-law and daughter, Adam and Rebecca. Reg is staying on as a guide to pass on his long experience as a hunter and business owner to Adam.
GOOSE AND DUCK HUNTS:Big Bend Outfitting is located in the northern grainland of Saskatchewan, right in the middle of the Central Flyway. It is the first stop for waterfowl on fall their migration south. There are many small sloughs and small lakes in the area providing them with an abundance of water.
Big Bend’s guides, Reg Quaale and Randy Miller, grew up in the area, and have access to hunting on thousands of acres of farm fields. We hunt White or Dark Geese every morning and White Geese or ducks every afternoon. We are blessed with one of the best waterfowl areas in the province of Saskatchewan. Ducks and geese are almost always hunted in the fields; we rarely hunt over water. Well trained dogs are welcome to join us at camp.
GUIDES: Reg is the founder of Big Bend Outfitting, and has acted as one of its guides throughout its existence. He is a lifelong hunter, born and raised in the Birch Hills area. The land the lodge is on was originally the site of Reg’s primary school!
Randy is a lifelong hunter and trapper from the Prince Albert area. Randy is a retired National Park ranger, and is still an active trapper. He has been guiding waterfowl hunters for over 20 years.
The lodge can accommodate 12 hunters, so we hunt in two groups of 6 maximum. Randy and Reg do not normally stay out with the hunters, since they need to get out and scout for subsequent hunts, but will do so on request if the circumstances permit. Our Lodge is in the hamlet of Hagen, Saskatchewan, a 90-minute drive from Saskatoon. Lodge has two bathrooms/showers, and a sitting room with satellite TV. All meals are prepared in the lodge by our wonderful cooks.
