Alaska Elite Hunting was started in 2016 by an experienced hunting guide and fisherman, born and raised on a farm in SE Minnesota near Rochester. He grew up on the farm, spending his summers fishing and falls bow & rifle hunting whitetail deer throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Alaska Bear & Moose Hunting: Moving to Alaska in 2002, he began packing in 2002 and guiding in Alaska in 2004. hes an avid rifle and bow-hunter and has guided in Alaska for many years, where he has led 100’s of hunters and fishers through the Alaskan wilderness for their adventure of a lifetime. Taking his lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, he specializes in Trophy Size Brown Bear, Moose, and King Salmon adventures. Past clients that Michael has guided continue to come back and can vouch for his expertise, knowledge of the area, and the guarantee of a great Alaskan experience.

Alaska Brown Bear Hunt: While Alaska Brown Bear Hunting with Alaska Elite Hunting in the Bristol Bay area, we will utilize various hunting methods to harvest Alaska Brown Bears.  For example, Alaska Brown Bears love scavenging on winter kill moose and caribou carcasses in the Springtime after ice-out. As a result of this, it is an excellent opportunity for hunting them over winter to kill moose & caribou.  In addition to this, our May Brown Bear hunting packages coincide with the Alaska Moose calving season.

Alaska Brown Bears can be found out looking for their favorite meal during the spring hunt at any time of the day. Besides hunting moose carcasses, spot & stalk hunting, floating the river where they travel, we also utilize several calling methods to bring big bears in close.  In the Springtime, Bears are fresh out of the den and hungry.  We also utilize vantage points for spot and stalk hunts as these bears more from denning areas to the river drainage.

Hunting by jet boat, we travel up and down the river corridors and, as a result of this, cover a vast area.  By doing this, we increase our chances of running across bears themselves, moose carcasses, or where the bears are feeding & hunting moose calves and beaver along the banks.

Alaska Brown Bear Hunts in Bristol Bay, Alaska Brown Bear hunts are conducted in Southwest Alaska in the Game Management Unit 17 near Bristol Bay. The southern part of this area starts at the Bristol Bay shoreline and runs north to the Kill buck Mountains. The eastern border of this area is the famous Mulchatna River Watershed.  Then runs west, taking in the Nushagak River drainages and Nushagak Hills. This area is about 170 miles long by 90 miles wide, roughly 15,000 square miles. The areas we hunt feature lake and river systems in which 4-5 million salmon spawn annually, which is one of the largest concentrations of wild salmon spawning anywhere in the world! As hunters know, you’ll have concentrations of Brown Bears when you have concentrated levels of salmon.

Coastal Brown Bears: We have a substantial Coastal Bears population with the most liberal hunting season and bag limit anywhere in Alaska. Our bear hunting season is open for over nine months per year.  As a result of this, it offers us four months (April, May, Aug & Sept.) of prime bear hunting opportunity. We hunt brown bears in the spring and fall every year with a limit of 2 bears per year.  Boars range from 7-1/2′ to 10′ square, with skulls ranging from 20″ – 29″+ and are at their heaviest during the fall season.

Alaska Moose Hunting: Alaska Moose Hunt with Alaska Elite Hunting is a fully guided top quality Moose Hunting experience. By taking a limited # of moose hunters into our vast area, we keep the Moose hunting quality high. Alaska Elite Outfitters efficiently use jet boats for hunting the Trophy Bull Moose in our area. Thus traveling from calling spot to calling spot is comfortable and practical. Cow calling, bull grunts, and brush thrashing are the primary methods of getting big bulls within gun & bow range.

Alaskan/Yukon Moose Hunting On Nushagak River: Generally, backwaters, small rivers, and meadows are where big trophy bulls hangout. Thereby our ability to travel on jet boats and Zodiacs makes it possible to access these big Alaskan Bulls. Including the use of “Spike Camps, Alaska Elite Hunting provides you the best opportunities to hunt these giant bulls. Especially early morning and late evening is essential to be out hunting. However, we return to base camp mid-day to resupply and dry out for the next night’s hunt.

Alaska Moose Hunt: We moose hunt in early September (5th – 15th) during the pre-rut, when the bulls are very receptive to calling. We travel between call spots using a variety of calls and raking brush. Spot & Stalk methods are used in some circumstances when the terrain and brush are less dense. Understand these big bulls are not standing in the open like a photo in a magazine article. They’re here, and they’re big, but you have to work to get them. In conclusion, being patient is the most important thing; we can’t emphasize this enough.

Alaska Bull Moose Hunt; Two-mile corridor Permit AreaThe trophy moose hunting in our particular area is unique in that it is a corridor permit hunt. There is a two-mile corridor along the upper Nushagak river, Mulchatna River. Their tributaries receive a limited number of non-resident bull moose permits each year to restrict the number of bulls taken from this area. Having said this, we have never exceeded that # of licenses, and they have always been available for our hunters.

Trophy Alaska Moose Hunt: The reason our Alaska trophy Moose Hunts has done so well, and the average size of the bulls is increasing in recent years, is that we have experienced eight mild winters in a row.  Thus, allowing the old breeding bulls enough time to recoup after the breeding season. Mild winter has not only increased those 64″-74″ bulls harvested, but there are just more of them in our area! The mild winters help get the older bulls healthy again and make it much harder for wolves to get the Moose caught in the deep snow, which allows the overall population to grow.
